Charlie is an Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member of Buckskin Lodge of the Theodore Roosevelt Council. Charlie has served as a Lodge Secretary, Lodge Vice Chief of Administration, and Lodge Chief. He has worked for Onteora Scout Reservation for four summers from 2015-2018. Charlie has the distinction of being among a select few scouts to earn every merit badge offered by the Boy Scouts of America. He has attended both the 2015 and 2018 NOACs as a contingent member and contingent leader in 2018. Outside of scouting Charlie is a freshman at Cornell University studying economics and statistics and enjoys hiking around the beauty Ithaca has to offer. He is also an active member of his university’s Science Olympiad club which will be hosting the National Competition in 2019.
Jack is an Eagle Scout, Founder’s Award recipient, and Vigil Honor member of Ktemaque Lodge of the Westchester Putnam Council. He is currently a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 1 in Mount Kisco. Jack completed a co-ed trek at Philmont in 2016, served as a member of a 2017 NYLT Staff, and served on the Alpha-1 Subcamp staff at the 2017 National Jamboree. He served 2 years as Vice Chief for Communications and published and edited the quarterly Ktemaque Beaver Tracks newsletter. Jack was elected Ktemaque Lodge Chief in 2017 and was reelected in 2018. He was a member of the Press Corps at the 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference while attending as a contingent member. He was both a contingent leader and Training staff member at the 2018 NOAC teaching a class on “Scouting After Graduation”. As Vice Chief of Section NE-2B his responsibilities are focused on section and lodge training. Jack Kiernan is currently a senior at Fox Lane High School in Mount Kisco with plans to become an engineer.
Michael VanLoon is the 2018-2019 Section Secretary. He is a Brotherhood Member of Shinnecock Lodge #360 and is a Sophomore at Commack High School. Michael is an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader out of Troop 125 in Commack, as well as a Venturer out of Crew 872. He has served as a Chapter Vice Chief, Lodge Vice Chief, and is currently serving as the Lodge Vice Chief of Program. He has also served on the Lodge Ceremonies Team, as well as a Chairman of many different events. Outside of Scouting, Michael is the Treasurer of the Class of 2021 at Commack High School, and a member of the Chess and Computer clubs.
Glenn has served as Section NE-2B Adviser since 2013. He is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of Buckskin Lodge of the Theodore Roosevelt Council. He has been involved in Scouting since 1966 and was inducted into the Order as a youth in 1974. Glenn served his lodge as Lodge Adviser from 2007 until 2012 when he was appointed Associate Section Adviser. Outside of the Order, Glenn has served his council as a Scoutmaster, High Adventure Director, and Properties Chairman. He is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, OA National Distinguished Service Award, and a recipient of the Founder’s Award. Glenn is a retired New York City Police Officer and has been a volunteer fireman for 40 years. He resides in Merrick with his wife, Lisa, and his two sons, Glenn and Mike, who are both Eagle Scouts and Vigil Honor Brothers. Glenn’s hobbies include boating and backpacking.
Ian is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member and Founder’s Award recipient of Kintecoying Lodge of the Greater New York Councils. Inducted into the Order as a youth in 1997, Ian served as a Chief of NE-2C for three terms and as the 2003 Northeast Region Chief. Currently, Ian is a member of the Council Executive Board, most recently completing a term as President of the Brooklyn Council Board. He is a recipient of the Silver Beaver and Distinguished Service Awards and is a Legacy Fellow of the Order of the Arrow. Outside of Scouting, Ian is a Director at BlackRock and enjoys traveling, photography, and sailing.
Although he stepped away from Scouting after high school, following the September 11th attacks, John Kiernan rededicated himself to community service and volunteered to help the Westchester-Putnam Council in Hawthorne, NY. He has been a member of that board since 2002 and served 3 years as President and 2 years as Commissioner. An Eagle Scout since 1981, he served as Lodge Chief for Na-Tsi-Hi Lodge #71 in Monmouth Council, NJ. He is now the Service Committee Advisor and advisor to the Nimat program for Ktemaque Lodge. He attended NOAC in 2015 and was on the Training Staff in 2018. He served as council Jamboree Chairman in 2013 and Subcamp Director for the 2017 Jamboree. He was a founding member of Crew 173 with his daughter, who was President. He has been Scoutmaster of Troop 1 Mount Kisco since 2012. He was an instructor at Philmont Training Center in 2004, and returned to Philmont to advise a co-ed Venturing Trek Crew in 2016. He is a past Wood Badge course director for a cluster course between Westchester-Putnam, Greenwich and with Greater New York Councils. John has been recognized with the Vigil Honor, the Silver Beaver, and the Unit Leader Award of Merit, but his proudest Scouting memory has been watching his son complete his Vigil.
